In conversation with Dr Charlotte Fleury BM, BMedSci (Hons), MSc. Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor

Charlie works in the RD&E Emergency Department and has done for the last 7 years. She has a passion for improving wellbeing by participating in outdoor activities and for pushing boundaries both physically and mentally. Last year, despite no previous rowing experience, she took on both of the ‘World’s toughest’ rows, encompassing 3000 miles across the Atlantic as a mixed pair with her husband (yes, still just about married!) and just shy of 2000 miles around Great Britain. They were the first married couple in the world to complete the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and the first mixed pair to attempt a GB circumnavigation.

She really enjoys delving into research about women in ultra events and this was an area she covered for her dissertation as part of her Masters in Extreme Medicine.
